Peter Lunn; He of the High Caste
Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 9:15AM
Peter Lunn - third from left
"He went on to serve as head of station in Bonn, and during the 1960s in Beirut, where he enjoyed skiing at The Cedars, a resort where, as he recalled, discipline in the lift queues improved dramatically after an attendant shot dead the two worst queue jumpers."
Absolutely classic line in a classic obituary of Peter Lunn in the Telegraph ; another of those high caste of gentlemen characterised by being mad as a box of frogs.

I met him in 2006 when he was made an honorary member of the Alpine Ski Club (which was founded by his father). We were celebrating ASC cetenary. http://www.alpineskiclub.org.uk/
When I met him, I felt rather embarassed because he asked me where I had been skiing that day in Murren. I said it was rather poor visibility and I was feeling a bit hung over so I hadn't been out. To which, he replied, I go out every day and ski for four hours. He was 92 at the time.
